Well looks like I might have offended a fellow blogger. Something I never intentionally go out to do. Conflict and controversy are just not my style. Anyhow, yesterday when I posted about "Blog hopping" I had mentioned that I had found out about this by visiting other blogs. I couldn't remember at the time which blogs it was that drew it to my attention, but I gathered by saying that I found out about the idea from other blogs, that would indicate that this was not my idea. Anyhow, I fear I have offended. It turns out one of these bloggers dropped by my blog and jogged my memory, so sure enough I went to her sight and she was correct so in order to make things right here is a link to rose desrochers blog she also has a link on her site about the "Bloggers Code of Ethics" which is worth a read. See we learn something new everyday.
Hope you all have a grand day. I for one am going to bed, I have to face another nightshift tonight.

RN, we all make mistakes, and I trust that yours had no ill intent whatsoever, and you have now done everything you can to make it up to the offended party. I handle that problem by linking back to inserting a link to to the source for every article I post, unless the entire article is original content.
May you (and your patients) survive your night shift. ;-)
I wouldn't worry about some geek's code of ethics for bloggers. These are our blogs, not their's, and you can say what you want. The rule of thumb should be: first do no harm! If you use a source, cite it and link it if possible. Don't slander. Don't give out personal information on others who aren't related to you and who could sue you for privacy infringement or slander. Don't write anything that could "hurt" someone else.
As a mother and grandmother, I say "play nice" with your "friends."
Above all, don't worry about offending someone. They're adults and they can get over it -- or they will tell you about it.
hi honey, don't fret, it's nothing at all, you said you saw the idea somewhere, sigh.... i hate it when they get their panties in a knot, you know, and think about it, a knot in your panties is not a good thing, it makes you cranky and all, and sometimes when my panties are in a knot sarge gets to laughing at me and the next thing you know, well, now honey, have you seen my meds? i can't seem to find them this morning and sometimes i'm not too, well, (lucid?) happy without them, know what i mean? and remember to eat soup on cold days, it'll make you feel better and all, huh? oh that wasn't you? sorry. hope you have a nice day honey. sigh.... bee
Hi Mary Ann,
I certainly wouldn't worry about something so innocent as not remembering where you read something.
I always link if I remember, but if I can't remember I handle it exactly as you did.
Bloggers that are going to get so riled up over a completely innocent mistake aren't worth having as friends.
Don't even give it another thought!
xoxox
My goodness...how in the world can we remember where we see everything??
I think you are a pretty good friend not to get "riled" up yourself...I think I like you even better for it!!
:-D
There has been a ton of drama lately :-/
I for one know that if you do not do as Rose Desrochers wants, she will drop you, insult you and be ugly while doing so. If I were you, I would drop her link right away and not worry about being linked to her. She is bad business. Just google her and read.
Ha ha ha! This crap happens to me all the time, but then I more 'in your face' than you.
Just for the record, I thought it was quite clear that you were passing on what you thought was a good idea that you found somewhere else.
Some people just have thin skins. As for a code of ethics, I'll reserve judgment until I've read it, but I can tell you now my response will probably one of derision.
Certainly, if you can remember where you read something give credit, but if you can not remember most of us handle it the same way you did. Not to worry your pretty little head about it! We all love you!!!
I visit so many blogs, I never remember where I saw or read something! lol I realize there should be some sort of blog "etiquette" but gosh, to get upset at something as minimal as not linking to another person about a certain subject...well, I think it's just silly! Hugs xoxo
RN, I hope that you do not feel my post about Blogging Etiquette was directed at you. You have not offended me at all. I'm not upset and I see Katie has already found your blog and begun to slam me. Does that woman not have anything better to do. She's writing a book about how I'm this bad person did you not know?
Do not believe everything that you read on the net.
Motherkitty it is not some geeks code of ethics. I believe that if you get an idea from a blog then you should always make an attempt to link to that person's blog.
Again my post was not directed at RN. Skittles may have thought the post was directed at her because she did not cite me either and several other bloggers admit they don't always cite their source. It happens!
I admin a blogging forum at bloggertalk.net and the post I made regarding Blogging Etiquette was one of my topics of conversation, I just crossed posted it to my blog.
RN, thank you for linking to my blog and I look very forward to visiting with you again.
I wouldn't actually say ignore the code. That's important to an extent.
But I think as long as you acknowledge the necessary links, thank sources are always polite & pleasant, that's what's important.
If there is a disagreement, then withdraw graciously.
No point followin rules to a tee and speaking rashly or rudely to the next person. That doesn't hold up with me.
Sorry, RN.
Was having several problems with Blogger. I meant the above comment in a general context.
Perhaps just follow your instinct and stick to blogger acquaintances you feel most comfortable with.
A natural warmth & friendliness go a long way.
with love
Yes Skittles you did receive a private email from me asking you to politely cite the source, however I did not request RN here to link to me, yet I have made her blog and am now being judged for a post not even directed at her. Sad!
It was not directed at anyone, but the blogosphere in general. Thank you RN for citing my link in a separate post from the blog hopping one, but you know what? I don't need the headache that a post not even directed at you has brought me, so I have removed your link from the blogs that I hopped to.
Congrats yngathrrt you now have more stuff that you can blog about.
RN, I wish you the best! I have enjoyed your blog and admire you for the job that you do.
Hi, RN, I found your blog through Katie's (yngathrrt). I read the "Bloggers Code of Ethics" at the link in Rose's post. That code is for journalists on the Net who are reporting factual stories. And I agree that journalists should cite their sources.
That code doesn't really apply to the random blogger, however, who just wants to discuss an idea -- or an act, such as bloghopping -- that she found interesting. I can't imagine trying to link to everything I read that has led to some of my blog entries.
So rest easy, you're fine! You didn't do anything wrong or hurtful.
You have a nice blog. I'll check back from time to time. A friend of my sister's is an ICU nurse.
Hi RN, I added your site to my side bar as I would like to keep up with your writing as they are very enjoyable. I don't want you to feel that you need to link back as I do not operate that way as some do. What you do is up to you. I keep up with daily reads, and would like to keep up with yours.
BTW, Julie is right concerning your link to Rose. Do not allow Rose to make you feel guility.
Also, I am writing a book that was inspired by Rose concerning Internet behavior. It is not just based on Rose but was unwilling inspired by her. There are many people on the Internet highway that have behavior closely related to hers. And I agree with Rose to not believe everything you read on the Internet. Check it out well and then make your decision based on what you read and experiences from others.
I really enjoy your blog.
Katie
Can we say Kookoo for Coco Puffs?
I tend to take citations more seriously then many because my blog is primarily political. But I think it all comes down to this. If we treat each other with basic civility, there should be no problem. One piece of advice, if I may. Try to avoid getting involved in bloggers' wars.
Tom, I agree with you concerning blogger wars. I, like others wanted Rn to not worry about someone getting on to her concerning a silly link. This happens so often.
Tom, I tried to go to your blog but it said Google error. My husband is wanting to start blogging and his blog will mostly be a political blog. I will check back so that he can see it to get an idea of blogging on this subject. He will be new to blogging.
Take care and have a good day.
Katie
This will be my last post here on this subject. First of all, RN I do apologize that yngathrrt has brought her problems with me here to your blog. For the past two years she has had nothing better to do than follow me around the net.
Again my post was in no way directed at you. It was a crosspost from bloggertalk.net and I have left the link to where we are discussing Blogging Etiquette.
I am really sorry that you thought that you upset me and my post was directed at you.
If you would like to discuss this further, please email me. :)
