Saturday's Photo Scavenger Hunt

This weeks Scavenger Hunt is something "Antique".

So the hunt began, what do I have that is antique. Is it Great-grandmothers mother of pearl jewelry? Nope. Is it my mom's Cameo brooch? Nope. Is it my dining room suite? Nope. This is what I chose:

Many years ago I used to collected old and unusual bottles. A fellow I used to work with knew this and said he had this bottle and wanted to know if I wanted it. Sure I said. I have had that bottle over 20 years myself. I loved the workmanship in the glass.

This picture really doesn't do it justice....as I said the workmanship in the glass is amazing....

Happy Hunting....

I can see the design in the glass. Very pretty. Very nice of your fellow worker to give that to you.

Have a great weekend,
Biker Betty :)

My mom is collecting glassware too. I forgot her cookie jar collection. She loves them. I think some of the jars are flat out ugly.

This bottle is beautifully made. Have you any of the deep blue cobalt antique bottles as well?

They sure don't make bottles like they used to! This one is just beautiful with its etchings in the glass.

This is wonderful!
Personally, I bet what was INSIDE was good too!!! I can almost smell the odor! Mmmmm, okay. I got carried away a bit. *giggles*
My antiques photos have been posted. Happy weekend.

We like old bottles too, but I don't think I've ever seen one as pretty as this one and we go to a lot of antique stores.

I just read the post below and am truly moved. Like you said the physical pain must have been awful but the mental pain must have been excruciating!

Thanks for sharing both and for stopping by my post.

Have a blessed weekend.

Old bottles, of that type, make some other neat things too. My Mom took an empty bottle that I believe had been a Calvert Whiskey holder and turned it into a base for a table lamp. That lamp drew many compliments over the years she had it too. (I don't remember now what happened to it though but it's been gone for many, many years now - which is a shame as it was really a pretty collector's type item.)

When I was a kid my friends and I use to dig around in the rubble of an old building that had burned down. It was a (rendering works)or that's how we referred to it. If I knew what they did there I don't recall and probably don't want to know.
Back on topic.. We use to find the coolest little bottles, wish I still had them I'd mail them to you. If I come across one in my furry in getting rid of stuff I'll send it to you.
I'm in a getting rid of stuff mode.

Great bottles. The etching is fabulous. They certainly don't make bottles like they used to.
Mine's up!
Happy photo hunt

It's too bad that pride in workmanship seems to have gone the way of these antique bottles for things were so much prettier back then. Now everythings is mass-produced and for the most part it looks like it.

Great picture and thanks for stopping by earlier!

Love all the detail in the glass bottle you have there! I have several of the Aunt Jemima bottles now that they stopped making them in glass. Wonderful choice for the theme! :)

Cool old bottle. I have a pair of old Squirt salt shakers at home. About the only other antique is me.
