So yesterday, I had to go to work. I started out early before 0600 because we had a sprinkling of snow and I just wanted to give myself enough time to get to work. I am about 15 mins into my drive when the snow came. Here I am in my Mustang and summer tires. Not a smart move. I opt to turn around make the 15 min. trip back home and exchange vehicles with my father-in-law. This of course now puts me over a 1/2 behind time. But I venture out again. By the time I get to where I was before I turned around the first time, the snow was really coming down. I venture forth. I am about 30 mins into my drive now when I come to the Denman ferry terminal. There is a light and it's red. I slow down. The car stalls. I am right at the light, it's snowing and dark and I can't get the car to start. Oh I tried. Nope. I end up pushing the vehicle by myself across the intersection and over to the curb. I have my cell phone with me but reception in this area is very poor. After 4 attempts I get through to my father -in-law tell him what has happened. He and hubby and mother-in-law come to my rescue. They all arrive. Mother-in-law offers her car to me to take to work. I get in her car and continue on to work. I arrive at work 1 1/2 hrs late.
The sun came out yesterday it was glorious no snow at my work. I finish my shift, it's 7 pm and it has started to snow. I called hubby as I always do to let him know I am on my way and asked him what the weather was like down our way. Snowing he says. I tell him I am taking the old highway and taking my time. It was snowing heavily but the roads weren't to bad at all. It was very windy and the snow was blowing in all directions. There were parts of the drive that were literally white out conditions. I am travelling at about 10 - 20 km/hr. There were cars actually following me, I guess they just wanted to follow my tire tracks. At one point of the trip I am coming to a bend in the road and a small bridge. I know this as I travel the road all the time. I slow down even more, good thing. I was discombobulated....I was heading for a ditch and the other cars were merrily following along behind me. I redirect myself. Just get me home. I make it to the area where I had to turn around that morning. By this time I have already been on the road for 1 1/2hrs I was stressed and exhausted. I get just past that area and the windshield wiper gave out. It had frozen. I pulled over the best I could, wiped it, flicked it did whatever I thought to try and get it going. No go! I was afraid to be out of my car for to long for fear that some drivers might not see me. At one point there was a car coming straight at my vehicle I honked my horn and he swerved. Not sure why he didn't see me I had my headlights and flashers on. Maybe it had something to do with his windshield being covered with snow, and the snow falling every which way. I call hubby. I am so tired and stressed. When I called him I was beside myself. Crying like a bumbling idiot. I had had enough. No more winter!!!! Help! So once again, hubby and his dad come to my rescue. I felt like so silly. But I knew I couldn't go any farther. The conditions were the worst I have ever seen. I will admit. I am a city gal gone country but I haven't gotten used to all the driving and the weather conditions. We made it home 2 1/2 after I had left work.
At 0430 this morning when the alarm clock went off, I looked out the window and saw all the snow and listened for the weather. Nope, it's a snow day!
But I want to thank my hubby and father-in-law....you guys are my hero's!!!

very cool blog! sorry if my comment it's not really serious, but 'm a bit busy now! Bye!
I am loving your pictures.....but I really am ready for summer
oh i feel so bad for your little plants.
i, too, hate driving in the snow. its hard to see where you're going, its slippery and you skid everywhere, etc etc. Sorry to hear about your misfurtune while trying to drive to work.
Dang RN!! I'm sure glad none of that made its way south to me!!
For your sake TC I am glad for you as well...It was a very treacherous and nail biting drive home.
I was surfing the blogs and i read that you're from canada and i see all this amazing pictures...i think your landscapes are breathtaking! Anyway i haven't read this blog yet! now it's time to go to the bed, but tomorrow i will spend all the morning to read it! I want to thank you for your comment! I really appreciated! Talk to ya soon! bye bye vale! and nice to meet you!
I am so glad to hear that you made it home safely though. Snow scares the crap out of me, I used to miss college when it snowed because I was too scared to drive in it (forty five minutes each way)...and I'd make my dad drive me the five minutes to work if I was scheduled to work. That's pretty bad, especially as we usually don't get snow that bad here.
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my blog several days ago! YES! I'm Irish and YES! I struggle with my weight, so yeah. Buddies we can be :)
We got some snow last night where I live and let me tell you what, I was a nervous wreck by the time I got home because it was nothing but ice. I'm ready for spring too!
Keep in touch! I love your blog.
Oh dear, no fun at all...when I get caught in a snowstorm like that, it takes everything for me to keep driving, I'm just a nervous wreck. That's why I won't travel in the winter time. When you have to do it for work though, that's got to be really hard. Glad you made it home safely and I'm sure your hubby and FIL would rather you call them than to continue and get in an accident! xox
Oh i shall weep for the herbs! I will be more attentive to my baby ones. No snow here to be a danger to them, but i think i could worse than the snow!
When i see snow i always think it would be nice to have some here, then i read this and think NO Thank you!
Cheers for the lovely comments you left on my blog.
It goes without saying that reading your blog is a pleasure!
Glad you finally made it home. I hate nail biting trips like that. I've had a few in my day.
Beautiful photo of Mt. Arrowsmith over on your side bar.
I try my hardest not to wish for snow (Floridian moved to the Pacific Northwest at age 54) because I got a taste of blinding snow when my husband was driving last year, but I love it in small quantities. A horizontal rain on a dark unknown road with lightning blinding you even more intermittently is equally bad; that I drove through, so I felt my nerves going just reading your trip to and from work. Hooray for "rescuers".
Okay, I was sitting here biting my nails just reading this. I am so glad you made it there AND back in one piece. You have some fine heroes and are a lucky lady to have them!!!!
We got a little freezing rain and then it warmed up and melted, but north or us about 35 miles got blasted with snow, sleet and freezing rain....better them than me.
I hope winter ends soon for both of us and spring is quick to arrive now that it's March.
Oh my gosh.. what a harrowing experience!!! I'm glad you made it to work and home safely.
