We made the news!!

Well being able to make a post must tell you I now have power again! We finally got power back late last night. Almost 3 days without power. We actually made out pretty well in comparison to others. We have a generator and wood burning fireplace so we had heat and light just no water.

In my last post I told you how it looked like a war zone out there. It was funny as that was exactly how the news broadcaster described it. The clean up is going fairly well. That is most of the debris is off the road it's just that the lines are still down. I have been hearing that people who have lived here their whole lives have never seen anything quite like this. It just seems to be one storm on top of another.

They are telling us that another storm is coming tonight, so I am preparing for the worst. They are also predicting that we could get snow on the weekend. That doesn't surprise me as it is already getting cold out there, and it is suppose to get down to -4 Celsius by the weekend. Crazy Crazy!!!

So on a lighter note. Our local swimming hole has opened it's doors and is letting the folks with out power to come in for a free shower and swim. Mighty nice of them don't you think. So Douglas and I decided to take them up on the offer, as did the rest of the community. I think just about everyone from our little community was there!!! Ah the hot tub was nice and being about to have a swim was a bonus.

So I awoke to power this morning!!! So I am trying to get as much done as I can before the next front comes in.

So how is everyone else out there doing? How is eveyone's Christmas preparations going?

Hope you all are having a fantastic week. I am off this afternoon to finish the last of the flu clinics. I have been told by some patients that they couldn't even feel me giving them the shot! Hmmmm.... It's been nice though. I have met some great people that I might not have been able to meet. Some of those seniors out there are amazingly active, and leading busy lives. I would say the average age of the seniors I have seen is about 76 years old. There was this one old bird who came in. OH she was a sweetie. Told me she had just come from her early swim and then after getting the flu shot she was going to her yoga class and then out for lunch. This lady was 84 years old!!! Amazing, young at heart. If I could half as active as her at that age I will be happy.

Cheers all! Have a great day.

Well I'm glad the power is back... hope it stays on as the next storm comes ashore.

We had some people Downstate who were without power for 10 days because of the storm we had here on December 1.

Nothing to put you in the holiday mood like freezing to death in a home without heat....

We were very lucky up here in Chicago to have missed all that.

Glad you have power again. Sounds like you're going to get round two though!
It's drizzly and gray here but 60ยบ, so not cold at all. No power outages either, thank goodness..

Wow, you folks there have had a heck of a time with those storms. I hope you stay safe and warm. I'm glad you got your power back also. It's a lot harder to do without power in the winter time. I wish it would snow here to get me into the Christmas mood though. Not much to date though. Take care.

Batten down your hatches - tonight's storm sounds like it will be a doozy. It snowed a bit this afternoon in White Rock but is raining now. We'll probably all be without electricity for a few days....darn, I hate not being able to blog :)

honey we had eight inches of rain two days ago, if that had been snow i don't know how deep it would be. we are on the 19th floor and i think it may have gotten near us. but, alas, it is eighty degrees, so just flooding.... bee
