Well I told you earlier that hubby and I were going to go skating, something I haven't done in years. Oh my goodness. First off the skates aren't the old rickety ones we use to get. No these skates looked more like snow board boats...well sort of. Anyhow, I get them on, I manage how to lace them up and then the moment of truth arrives. I walk out to the ice holding the edge of the gate for dear life. Where are those metal bars we use to be able to use. Of course there are none to be found. Passe I am informed.
I make it out onto the ice....slowly, slowly....inching along, when this little tike, I swear he only came up to my knee if that. There he was with his helmet on skating like it was the most natural thing to do and playing hockey to boot. Oh my!
So here I am making my feeble attempt at skating......look mom see what I can do!!!
This one makes me laugh....notice the sign in the back...."Physiotherapy" something maybe I might need after all of this!!
Actually, it was all good fun. Douglas and I had some good giggles. He did a lovely swan dive into the boards....I wasn't sure at first if it was for real or he was just joking.....I laughed, he smiled. We skated on.
Well I survived and now I must get ready for work. Wishing you all well.

Cool. I haven't been ice skating since I was about 16. All I remember about that little outing was that it was freezing cold, the ice was so *hard* and bumpy, and I fell down. After that, I was ready to go inside and drink hot chocolate. Never wanted to put on skates again and never did. I'm made for hotter climes. You're braver than I ever was.
Looks like fun! If my leg/ankle ever heals maybe I can try it again this year!
Glad you and hubby gave it a try agai and hoping you won't need any kind of therapy!!
It looks like you were having a lot of fun!
I've never ice skated...
It can be scary at first, but after you get used to it, it can be a lot of fun. Good exercise too. Glad you had fun with it.
The pictures bring this post to life :)
I used to roller skate all the time as a teenager. Then later when I was a Cub Scout den mother we had an outing at a skating rink. I thought it would be like riding a bike.. you never forget.
HAH.
I fell and sprained my thumb. LOL!
You look like you were having fun. You are a brave gal. I'd fall and break my hip.
MJ
I bet that WAS fun! (How many years since you've skated?)
If it were me---I'd be the viewER not the one on the ice.
Thanks for visiting, glad you dropped by. There's always room for new friends at Wystful 1's!!!
Yeaaaaaaaa you did it! lol I use to skate all the time and when the boys were small I'd bring them every Friday to the free skating hour at the arena behind us. It's been years, though, since I've skated and I just know I'd probably be more on my butt than standing upright if I tried now! lol You did good....wonder if you'll be able to move tomorrow?? hehe
What a delightful uplifting post! You look good out there! I used to love to skate but anymore, now way, I would be terrified! I admire your bravery, and I am glad the little tyke with the helmet didn't knock you over! lol
Glad your hubby wasn't hurt doing the swan dive either...very cute! :)
lol! That is too cute!! Glad you had some fun!
Looks like fun! I've never been on ice skates! (no ice here!)
