Heads or Tails Tuesday

This week's theme is on "Luck".........sometimes we have it and sometimes we don't......

The other day I had to go for a test......I was scheduled for for 1100 am.....as "luck" would have it ....the doctor was running behind...emergencies came through the door.....I ended up being the last case of the day.....my 1100 test started at 3:30......I didn't get out of there until 4:30.....a whole day shot......guess they would call that "luck" of the draw.....
I would rather focus my luck on good "Luck".....the day after my test was my Birthday.....I was still feeling pretty seedy....but I had my girls and hubby around me...

So I feel very "lucky" about that........

Doctors and their "emergencies." Pft, when did sneaking in a round of golf become an emergency.

I had to have a stress test done last week and everything was on schedule. Great! Then yesterday, I went for lunch with my sisters over in North Van and got caught in all the traffic caused by all the accidents around the city. Took me 2 hours to get to Vancouver when it should have taken 10 minutes! Now THAT'S bad luck! Happy Birthday to yoooou...Happy Birthday to yoooou...Happy Birthday, Mary Anne,...Happy birthday to yooooou!

Four years ago, after my first surgery and when I was getting follow-up chemo, I had to go weekly to the local hospital to have routine bloodwork done. Nothing drastic, just a prick in the arm and they would extract about four vials and I was done. What used to amaze me about that hospital's lab/x-ray/mri (and other tests) area, was how you would have to wait and wait and WAIT some more for the blood tests and rarely see anyone coming in or out of the area where they withdrew the blood. A simple blood test, that takes less than five minutes to administer, when there's not a full waiting room there for the same test should not mean you have to wait around 20-30 minutes to have the test done, should it?
By the same token, last fall, when I had the last surgery done (a big hospital in Pittsburgh) I was scheduled for surgery at 11:15 a.m. and it was after 7 p.m. before I was finally taken back to the O.R. I could excuse that had there been emergency surgery needed for someone else but my surgeon came to me a couple times as I lay on the litter waiting and he was very agitated as he said someone had apparently improperly scheduled two operations or some such like that for the same operating room and he was really highly jacked! Told me "Heads will roll over this mistake." Well, I don't know if they did, don't really care either for that matter. Nothing can be done to correct for that after the fact for the misery I went through - nervous for openers and then, in major pain in my back and lower abdomen from having to lie on that damned hard, flat litter for so many hours.
