I had mentioned in another post that it was eldest sons Birthday recently. We didn't do a whole lot that day as hubby was still busy attending to last minute things with regards to moving the shop. Eldest son had his friend stay over, got out and did some quadding....hubby bar-b-qued a wonderful dinner and of course there was cake and ice cream. Grandma and Grandpa came over to celebrate with us as well. I think eldest was happy with his day.....

And here's the Birthday boy.....Hope you had a good one "Big Guy"

These are Cormorants. Shoreline birds and common in these areas. There is actually a Search and Resuce helicoper in this area named after it. I apologize for the lack of clarity of some of these pictures but it is a bit difficult when the boat is bobbing up and down. Heading east we came to a little island called Norris Island. Home to many seals, shoreline birds, and eagles.
As we approached the seals took to the water. Continuing on east we made our way to Hornby Island and Tribune Bay, which is part of Hornby Island. This is a very popular spot for boaters and vacationers. Years ago you would be able to buy property on this island very cheap.....today not so....a place there can run anywhere from $370K to $million dollars.
Of course we had to drop anchor and go ashore.

We didn't stay in Tribune Bay for very long as we had to set out to do what we came to do...and that was go FISHING! We left and not far out we put down the lines and started trolling. It wasn't long before we got something on the line.....

This is what he caught. They are small sharks but better known as Dog Fish. They are a catch and release fish...but the boys got a big thrill trying to real them in....
Here's youngest son with his catch.....I think we ended up catching 6 of these. Hubby did get three salmon on the line...one we actually got up to the boat but we lost all three of them.....
After a long day on the water we started to head home. The next picture is of Mt. Arrowsmith in the distance.
Well we did manage to get the boys out for their fishing day. The day started out by putting the boat in the water at Deep Bay. From their we ventured out and around Chrome Island(I have shown you pictures of Chrome Island before and on my sidebar) but these pictures are up close.

Beautiful day to be out on the water enjoying family fun. That map really helped visualize where you went.
Those are some pricey areas!!
What a wonderful day to be out with your "boys." I particularly admire the oldest one with the bald head. I do find a naked head VERY sexy! LOL Tell him I wrote this and watch him preen. LOL
Looks as if a grand time was had by everyone! What a special celebration for a special young man!
Once again, you have done a great job on the picture sharing. That small shark, aka, dog fish, certainly looks strange!
Hugs!
Beautiful... absolutely beautiful... I really enjoyed your story and pictures as always, had to share them with my husband as we never went ocean fishing... I do love a good fishing story. I as well have just returned from an awesome fishing trip. BC does offer some beautiful fishing travels, does it not!? Oh by the way, Happy BC day, my friend, hope it's a good one for you!! Pics of my fishing trip are here:

What a great time you had out on the water. Love the pictures.
Pssst I agree with Leslie - shaved heads are veeeerrrry sexy.
oh how fun that looks! I've always wanted to go island exploring by boat! I haven't gone fishing since I was a young girl and I look forward to taking the kids out one of these days. I'll have to show my hubby your pics to inspire him into coming with us!
Great pictures! I love when you take us on a tour of your area. If I ever find a rich sugar daddy (and good luck with that deal, huh), I'll have him drive us up to your neck of the woods, get us a boat and take a tour around so I can see all these beautiful places first hand. But till then, I'm so glad you available to do virtual tours.
The birthday sounds great and I'm glad he had a good time!
Now! I hope you haven't become numb to the beauty of where you live. It takes my breath away every time I see your photos. Simply beautiful.
Ah, you make Canada look so much more fun than the movies make it look.
I can't believe you guys caught a shark. It really is shark week isn't it?
Thanks so much for sharing your grand day with us!!
:)
