Yes our home today is Birthday central......I have been keeping a little quite for this past week.....reason...I have been trying to keep a secret...but today I can say it because the secret is out...today my hubbies boys arrived!!!!!
Yup it is my hubbies Birthday on Monday and I secretly planned to fly his boys out for his birthday....yup almost 5000 km to come and spend the week with their daddy!!! Yahoo!!! I am so excited and I can't tell you....I was up early as the boys left home at 0730 their time and it was only 0430 our time....they arrived here at 1130 my time......I had to make up a story as to where I was going and why......I have my girls here celebrating my youngest daughters birthday...I told hubby I was going out to buy a birthday cake and some gifts...and bringing eldest daughter with me so she can practise her driving...all was good.
We finally make our way home...I thought for sure he knew about the surprise....I dropped the boys off next door at their grandparents.....we had arranged that grandpa would call hubby to and ask him to come over telling him he needed help......well once I arrived home and I knew the boys were at there grandparents the call came......I passed the phone to hubby...told him it was his dad....he wasn't on the phone for but a moment and off to his parents place he went...I have never seen him move so fast...for sure I thought he knew what was up and was just anxious to see his boys....as it turns out....his father told him he needed him urgently....so as a dutiful son off he went.....only upon his arrival to find his sons waiting for him.....I wasn't there to see the expression on his face as it would have spoilt the surprise....but grandma says he truly looked like he was surprised. I am so glad...it has been so difficult arranging this with the distance and time differences...but it came off and he says he was surprised....I am so glad.....
Now this evening, we will be celebrating my youngest daughters birthday...she turned 15 on Thursday....so we will be doing cake this evening.....and then birthday for hubby on the 29th which is his actual birthday.....
We are also going to our Community Halloween function this evening...youngest son thought it would be fun....after checking with the Birthday girl...she agreed it would be ok...fireworks and bonfire...to much fun....
So until next time...here's wishing you all good health and a wonderful weekend.....

Here's my birthday wishes for your daughter and your husband. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. What a nice surprise for husband -- his boys home for his birthday. You sure can keep a secret!
I'm glad he didn't have a heart attack. You would have had to give him mouth-to-mouth. Oh, okay, you can give him some of that mouth-to-mouth anyway.
That was a really awesome surprise birthday gift! Glad you were able to pull it off and so seamlessly too. Good job!
Now that's what I call a perfect birthday surprise:-) I wish I'd been a fly on the wall to see his reaction when he saw his boys! hehe Happy Birthday to your hubby and Happy Birthday to your daughter...you sure know how to make their birthdays special:-) xox
fantastic surprise :)
Happy Birthday everyone!

Well, what a happy day(s) for all of you! My daughter's b'day is the 29th, too, and she'll be 31 years old - hard to believe and a second baby more than half way here. Glad he appreciated your surprise and I hope you'll have a great week together. Did the boys have to bring homework? (there's the teacher in me - lol)
Speaking of teachers, we're in the same boat as nurses - overworked and underpaid and underappreciated. At least your shift ends after the required # of hours work. We work until it's done - and that's never! I was being paid for 80% time and was putting in sometimes 60 or more hours a week and I was exhausted. I decided my health was more important than the paltry pension I'd get if I stayed the course. So I decided a smaller pension was better than a shorter lifespan. My sister is/was a nurse (graduated from VGH School of Nursing in 1965) and I know when she had her kids, she went right back to work but doing the midnight to 7 shift so that the kids always had one parent at home. It was so hard on her and she ended up several years ago having to go on disability because of heart problems. I so respect your profession - and agree with all you wrote in the previous post.
Leslie....I hear what you are saying....my eldest sister retired last year she was teacher/principle and after 35 years had had enough...my sister who passed away was a teacher as well and so was her husband....my ex husband started out as a teacher but changed professions...I am very familiar with the life of teachers and they have my full respect. I also agree with your comment about as a teacher when you leave at the end of the day you go home to mark papers or do lessons plans or organize some school event...it is never over...even in the summeer when you are suppose to be on holidays...I can remember my sisters preparing to go back at least 2 weeks before school opened, to get things organized for the first day.
I use to work for the Federal Government for 10 years before I went into nursing....and again...after my day at work I more times than not brought projects home and worked many weekends.
You are right, at least when my 12 hr. shift is over it's done...the physical part anyhow...often I bring home the memories of what I experienced....some to shocking to ever mention on my blog.
Happy, happy birthday to D W and R !
Hope their birthdays are out of this world........sounds as if D's got off to a 'surprising' start....hee hee. What a wonderful present to give him.......so much thought and love went into that gift, FOR SURE!!!
sounds like a very fun filled weekend! happy birthday to all :)
Hi from Australia,
I was brought up to believe that family is the most important thing in the world - and you and your husband obviously share those values.
I've had a very happy first visit here. Will be back more regularly when I've finished my novel.
Keep smiling
David
What a fabulous surprise for your husband.
