"Seven Random Things about Me"

Well I've been tagged by Skittles for the meme for seven random things about me. First off, Skittles if you are reading this, I have been trying for the life of me to link to your blog but to no avail I have not been able to do so. Hence I did not highlight your name in a link as I fear I might send people to the wrong site. So here you have it 7 random things about me:

1) I love the colour RED

2) I don't like porridge. I think that is a result of my mom making huge pots of it...and well...it often had lumps in it. Yuck!!! No...."please sir can I have some more" for me. 3) I enjoy fishing and being out on the water as much as possible. I am really looking forward to fishing season and being able to get out there on the boat with my hubby. Maybe I can give him some competition. 4) I love to canoe. I canoed the Broken Island Group off of the Westcoast of Vancouver Island a few times with family and friends. It was a lot of work, but great exercise and the scenery was spectacular. 5) I love seafood. Almost anything.....I love shrimp but they don't like me.....very allergic to shrimp. 6) Fondues......yummmy.......chocolate fondue......strawberries, pineapple, bananas, kiwi.....oh yes ...... 7) I am left handed. Do you have any idea how difficult some things can be for a left handed person. Think about ladles for pouring soups...always on the wrong side for me....or the spatula...the bend is on the wrong side....pulling the cord on the lawnmower or weed whacker.....on the wrong side.....simple things like learning how to tie your shoes, or setting the table.....or folding a sheet with a righty......try it sometime....see what happens....you will be surprised.....
"One out of every ten people walking down the street is left-handed. Everywhere they go, left-handed people come across tools that were designed for right handed persons.
From scissors to camcorders to screw drivers to hockey sticks to baseball gloves, lefties learn early on that they need to develop skills to live in a world designed for right handed people."
See I couldn't even find a good picture to demonstrate anything about lefties.....but boy did I find some interesting articles....I think I sense a topic for a post coming on!

So there you have it.....Seven things about me.

I enjoyed reading your 7 things meme!
I know lefties have it more difficult. My brother was "gently encouraged" to change from being left handed to right handed.
He still does many things with his left side, but can do some things right handed. Luckily most parents no longer try to change children in that way :)

My youngest daughter is left-handed and I'm sure she can sympathize with you.

Thanks for visiting my blogs today. Please come back any time.

My Mom is left handed so I grew up watching her deal in a right hand world. Lefties sure don't have it easy!

Wow! Interesting list. I didn't know you enjoyed canoeing. I love canoeing too.

And a lefty. One of my closest friends, who lives in Nanaimo, is also a left. She lists the same difficulties you do.

Is it raining over there? Where is spring?

Cheers,
Josie

My blog has been having major issues with Internet Explorer users. The FireFox browser works really well.

Is porridge the same as oatmeal? If so I agree!

I'm allergic to crab, shrimp AND lobster. I'm able to eat clams and oysters though. :)

My oldest son is left-handed. I watched him struggle with so many things.. like scissors.

Thanks for playing the meme!

Assuming, like Skittles, that by "porridge" you are referring to oatmeal, I never liked it at all when I was a kid but have come to love it now and all three of my kids love it too - but when I cook it, I add a little bit of butter to the water, along with a couple spoonful of brown sugar, then mix in the oatmeal and it gets nice and creamy plus a really good sweet flavor to it as well. Sometimes, I add raisins and/or chopped dates to it too. My granddaughter loves it either way - brown sugar/butter or with raisins and/or dates.

On the "lefty" thing, yes I can see how that would present lots and lots of challenges! My granddaughter often favors using her left hand but also does use her right hand too so we aren't putting any pressure on her to use one hand or the other - just letting nature take its course and hope that to keep our patience levels (and hers too) on a fairly even keel, that she comes out favoring the right hand. She has enough obstacles as it is to her learning so doesn't need that on top of it. But, if it happens, guess we'll all have to revamp our own methods then to try to help her to adapt to doing things her way.
