I see sunshine on a cloudy day..........

Ok enough already....enough feeling sorry for myself. In my previous post I mentioned that I had made an apron for my daughter.....it's been years since I have sewn....and I sewed this on that $3 sewing machine I told you I picked up at a garage sale....what do ya think?

I opted to do a lining with it to give it more thickness....I incorporated the lining into the pocket..I trimmed the top of the pocket with the same colour as the front....but you know now that I look at it...I think maybe I should have done the pocket in the same colour and then trimmed it with the reverse colour. I just loved the material. It really should have been for Thanksgiving...but seeing as that is this weekend it will just have to do as a fall apron. It's my youngest daughters birthday on the 25th and she is really a Susie homemaker. She loves to bake and cook, she just recently learnt how to bake pies! So I thought as part of her birthday present I would give her this apron, I am going to make up a collection of some of my favourite recipes and put them in a book, I also got her a couple of kitchen utensils. I am hoping she will like it. Of course I will be getting her something off of her birthday list...but I thought this would be a little something especially from me to her.

I love this little clip art of Piglet and Pooh.....it's just so cheery.....how can it not put a smile on your face.

I love the apron. Your table is pretty cool too!!

I really admire people who can sew, actually make something. I can maybe reattach a button :)

That apron is super neat!! I wish I could sew but no way... I have no patience to learn or perhaps no one has patience to teach me... LOL...
I hope you are feeling better...
I love POOH!!! That picture definitely made me smile and believe me... I need to ...
It's been a rough couple weeks...
backsliding into suffering tonic-clonic seizures has pushed me into depression and I have been feeling blah blah blah... so hopefully my new AED's will take care of it... cross your fingers!
I'm glad for blogger friends like you!

That apron is great. I know your daughter will enjoy having it even more so since you made it. I love your new blog header. Great shot.

Love the apron! That's the same pattern I use for the aprons I make -when I go on an "Apron sewing binge." Back in 2000, I made and sold over 30 aprons between October and December -most were using this pattern but some were also the kind you just buy the fabric with the pieces printed into the fabric, cut and sew -usually those are much more topical and cutesy. I love aprons and wear them frequently cause I am such a slob in the kitchen. Wish I could find and "easy-to-sew" pattern for the kind of apron my Grandma used to wear -round neck and round openings for the sleeves and it criss-crossed in the back then. They covered even more than the "butcher" apron that is the pattern style I use and that you used here too.
Peace! Keep your fingers and mind busy on all kinds of other things you enjoy and keep the nerves at bay a bit that way between now and January!

You did a great job and the result is a beautiful apron for a special gift. I haven't done much sewing. My mom was the sewer of the family. When I was growing up she made all of my clothes and hers as well. Maybe I will have to try it again. You pattern looks like a good one to try. - Margy

Jeni and Margy....the pattern was a See and Sew....very easy and basic...I just used it as a guide to cut the pieces...after that I made the rest up by hand....but it was well worth it....

I had a great time at dancing this evening...post more about that tomorrow...

Thanks for commenting on my blog hun, your apron is amazing....I do a bit of sewing but nothing like that...the answer to your question about envelopes, it depends what size cards I have made, some envelopes I buy from the local shop or I make them myself using a template I have drawn up...
Your blog is amazing...

I haven't touch a sewing machine for years either.
Sewing isn't one of my strong point in life.

Coffee is on.

You've done a superb job sewing that apron. Wish I could do something similar, but alas, no sewing machine anymore. I'm sure your daughter will love the love you've put into it. :D
