Saturday's Photo Scavenger Hunt

This weeks theme is "Tiny" Being the amateur birder that I am, when I saw the subject for this weeks hunt was to be "Tiny" I immediately thought of my photos I have of the hummingbird I took from my living room window back in May. This is the male "Rufus Hummingbird" They are "Tiny" but boy can they move!

Happy Hunting all!!!

Our rufus hummers just showed up a week or so ago. I call them little hitlers, they sound and act so mean.
I took video of them today haven't looked at them yet.

Even though we have two feeders up, we are not getting any hummers. Don't know what happened to them. We occasionally get one ruby throated male and one female come to take a sip, but we are wondering where they are. In years past, we've had pairs nesting in our lilac bush (I've found the nests) and we've had many feeding all day long.

Hope next year's batch comes back because hummers are my absolute favorite birdies. And yes, they are tiny demons who are so fun to watch as they defend their territory.

I've never seen a hummingbird up close before. I've seen these fascinating birds on tv. They certainly have high levels of energy for flapping their wings in such great speed. Thanks for visiting earlier.

Mary Anne, I love your bird pictures. You should publish a book of them. And, I absolutely love humming birds. I always plant petunias for them, and I always feel blessed when they come to my little terrace.

Cheers,
Josie

You do have amazing photographic skills! We moved here in May and found a nest with two little guys. Mom was quite concerned that we'd bother her wee ones! They all made it okay!

how about this for "tiny"? - it is a photo i took of a baby Dragonfly - i placed a dime on the window to demonstrate the scale of it. It does not show up too well here, but the tiny blue insect in to the right of the dime.
