Random things about me......

My friend Shelby tagged me for this meme.....I am suppose to tell you 8 random things about me.....now are there 8 things.......let me think....

1. I really need my skim milk latte with cinnamon sprinkles in the morning...and even if I am on a diet I need my piece of toast to go along with it....

2. I always wanted to sing opera.....I love the duet with Sarah Brighton and Andre Bocelli singing...."time to say goodbye" I close my eyes and sing imaging myself up on the stage singing.

3. I like things that make me push my personal envelope....like public speaking or singing.....difficult to do ...but when I have done it I have felt so proud of myself.

4. I am trying to let my grey come in. I have always dyed my hair and have kept it short...but with my last hair cut I noticed that there is a lot of grey in there...and well I just wonder what I would look like without Clairol #365......

5. I love to dance....I mean really love to dance.....when I was in high school I did an aptitude test to find out what were some of the things I would be best suited for as a career...it told me amongst other things that I should be a choreographer.....I wish I had followed that.....

6. I am terrified of failure. So much so that rather than failing I just don't do...which is really a shame because I know that has held me back from doing a lot of things in my life.

7. I am outspoken and stand by my principles sometimes to my detriment. My husband has this saying about me when I talk to him about an injustice I have seen or experienced he says to me....."don't you feel a letter coming on"....meaning that I have a reputation that when I get mad about something I write letters to the local paper or the Member of Parliament or local politician...can't help it I just do.....

8. I am terrified of dogs even though I have one. When I was younger I was attacked by a dog...it jumped on top off me and pushed me over right in the middle of a street, I was laying on the ground with this dog on top of me...thank goodness for some kind strangers who got it off of me....that had lasting effects on me so much so that it has curtailed where I go for runs. There are a lot of dogs where I live.

So there you have it....8 random things about me. I am not going to tag anyone...but if you like to play please do and just let me know you did so I can come and check out what you have to say....

There is one other thing.....I really want to learn how to add headers, change font and improve the width of my sidebar and do some of the funky stuff a lot of you do...but I have read and reread the instructions...and this thick brain of mine just doesn't get it....I spent hours yesterday learning how to upload from Picassa and editing...it was very painful....just wish there was an easier way.....I learn much easier through demonstration rather than the written word.....So there are 9 random things about me.....

A little while ago I participated in a Scavenger hunt, called Lithia Scavenger Hunt.We had to gather 7 items and mail the package to a person who was randomly picked by the organizer of the hunt. The 7 items were:

1. Wind movement item

2. Something blue or blue in it.

3. Your local sale ads paper.

4. Some triangle shape or 3 sided

5. Flower stickers

6. A rock

7. A frame picture taken from close by your're home areas looking toward the south.

Then once it has been dertermined it is we exchange with we gather the items on the list mail it to them and once it arrives we share. It just so happens that I got the organizer of the hunt that would be

Peppylady and here is what I got....
You know what I found neat about this.... I love the ad flyer, there were two things in there that you would never see advertised in a Canadian flyer.....you know what it was.....guess..........ok, I will tell you.....Liquor and Guns. You see we don't sell liquor in our grocery stores you have to go to a government store or government agent to get liquor....and although you might see the odd ad for let's say Jim's gun shop...you would never see guns adverstised. The wind ornament I have already put up and the tea towel will be put to use very soon.....thank you Dora aka Peppylady for the lovely items.....cheers....

Loved reading more about you.

I can so identify with #5. I once wrote to one of the Kennedy males (cant quite remember which one I'd had a couple of drinks at the time) about a speech he was making about the troubles in Ireland. I asked him why he didn't get of his butt and stop people in America sending money to the IRA to buy weapons, that would solve a lot of problems! Hubby said "You'll be on an FBI list in someone's office now!"

Like you I am terrified of most dogs...and I never had a terrible experience like you did, but if one barks at me I am off and running and I know that is not the best thing to do!
A friends daughter did my header or it wouldn't be there...but if you look in my side bar under credits click on Pat's and she has some lovely back-grounds to choose from...I could help you put one on by phone as I have Canadian calling :)

I'm trying to let my gray come in to. I'm still a young guy, but about a quarter of my hair has already turned gray. I think it makes me look dashing - like Sean Connery after his hair turned gray, but before he did The Rock.

Getting a header isn't too hard. It's mainly trial and error. Just keep uploading rectangle-ish pictures and eventually it'll work out. Make sure they're fairly big though, so you can cover the whole header.

Oh I have tried numerous pictures and none seem to fit...they say they have to be a certain size and or you can change the size in your template...ever looked at those damn things....gosh...I need a degree to understand them...gosh darn....Early bird has made me a very wonderful gesture and I think I am going to take her up on it....cheers...and let me know how the grey turns out...by the way ...I love Sean Connery....cheers...

Great meme! Speaking as one who's done it, the letting the gray grow out is the hardest part if you're used to coloring. Once it grows out and no more dyed hair is showing, it looks way better!!

Glad your package arrived safely. I just received your package yesterday and will have it posted later today or tomorrow.

How Liquor is sold is some what determine by each state. In Idaho if a person want to but hard liquor a person most by it at state ran liquor.
Beer and Wine can be bought at our local grocery store and I notice in California they sell hard liquor in the grocery store.

Mmmm.... lattes with cinnamon... oh, you and me both... sounds good. Great random thingys. It's always neat to learn about our fellow bloggers and as far as Canadians not advertising guns and weapons is so true and I did come across a newspaper from the US and I was a little surprised at the numerous amount of ads for guns and such weapons... oh well.
The scavenger hunt sounded like fun.

RN, you said 6. I am terrified of failure. So much so that rather than failing I just don't do...which is really a shame because I know that has held me back from doing a lot of things in my life.

I know that for me my greatest successes in life were built on the foundation of failures.

Also, if I may add a number 9. You have a heart the size of Canada.

Hi Mary Anne,
This was a post full of interesting things for sure.

I'm outspoken too and principled. It has landed me in trouble on occasion but that's who I am. I think I've been more sorry about things I should have done than things I did in this arena.

I thought you were very high tech by the look of your sidebar. It just goes to show. One thing that I have found is when I see something on someone's sidebar that I like, and they have blogger for their blog, I have emailed them and asked if they would tell me how to do it. It often has worked and I have had several people email me out of the blue and ask how to do this or that.
I think people in the blogosphere are very helpful on the whole.

Have a great visit with the boys, you are obviously very excited about it.

#7 - I may drift along, quietly, for a while and then, something will happen that gets me really riled and my kids know most likely there will be a letter to the editor someplace and soon then! I've tried to keep a low profile for almost two years now though. Last time I got really "loud" was two years ago with our state legislature and an obnoxious pay raise they gave themselves. (It still rankles me even though they did rescind that piece of legislation.) When I got up this a.m., it looked like it was going to be a really pretty day and seems as soon as I thought that, Mother Nature said "Nope, I'm changing my mind for you folks - rain it will be or at least dark and gray." Ok, so be it I guess -time to close the windows again. Enjoy your time with your boys now.

Okay, I've just got to comment on some things here. I like dogs, small dogs or evern shepherds and Border Collies. However, I am terrified of the dogs bred to attack such as Chows, Rotweilers, and Pit Bulls. I don't jog but I love to go for walks and want to live where there are leash laws. Country living sort of nullifies that. I have lived in both places. I would have a small dog but I would never own a large one.
I am in the South and never lived in an area where liquor was for sale in grocery stores. It has always been at State Stores. Now in some counties you can buy it in privately owned stores. In Alabama, the county my daughter lives in, you can buy wine in the grocery store. Where I live in Tennessee, you have to go to a liquor store for your wine. Beer is for sale in the grocery. I've never in my life seen a ad for guns. I suppose there might be a sporting goods store which would ad. them.
I was curious about your boys visit. Are they attending boarding school?
And Drew, men are so lucky, they always look good with grey hair. J's is silver and I love it.
