Just when you think you are getting the hang of things, life throws you a curve ball. Well in my case, it's blogger who is throwing me the curve ball.
If you hadn't noticed my template has change. There I was minding my own business, trying to be fancy and add a calendar to my sidebar. The instructions actually were fairly easy. The problem seemed to be once it was posted the whole calendar wouldn't show, as if it wouldn't fit the space I was trying to post it. Well I played with it and I played with it, till I ran out of time and almost went ballistic and wanted to send blogger back from whence it came. I managed to calm myself and gather my composure and decided to do the adult thing.... Just step away. IN the back of my mind I am hoping that something miraculous would happen when I returned...Like it would all be fixed. Wishing and hoping that the magic computer gremlins would come and pay my computer a visit and tell it to smarten up.
But it didn't happen they didn't show, or maybe they did and my computer aka blog just doesn't like me today. So, on to plan B. All is not lost I thought, I shall just leave the thought of putting a calendar on my blog alone for a little while....and maybe when it decides it wants to come out and play then I will come back to it. So that is what I did.
There I was happily minding my own business and wandering through the blog world, when I came across a blog that I very much enjoyed reading and wanted to add to my list blog friends. So off I go to my template....do do la da da la....doing my thing adding my new blog friend....then it comes time to preview it. Hmmmmmmmm......where is it? Not there? Not only is it not there but the rest of my side bar is missing. What the.....I scrolled down....further and further and there it is....my sidebar at the bottom of my blog. How can this be....I follow the steps I have for all my other entries. Then it dawned on me. Could it be possible? Please say it isn't so. Did I delete something from my template when I was trying to figure out how to post the calendar? Oh woe is me.....
So I think how can I check to see if that is the case. Then it comes to me. Check a new template and see if the data is all the same. Well as far as I could tell it was. I'm stumped now. Mind you the way things have been going for me lately with blog nothing surprises me.
So I tinker some more...nothing seems to work. So I opted to change my whole template and start from scratch. Yup I thought ...ok you can do this...your remember all of the steps. Well ....I thought I did.
So here I am with a new template....ready to add you all back on again and fix it up. Guess what.....it still does the same thing. I try to enter anything on the sidebar and it all drops to the bottom of my blog.
I will not let this get the better of me....I will perservere.....this may mean I won't have new posts for awhile. But I will try and come visit all of my blog friends.
Hope your day has started off better than mine. Actually, this is the end of my day....just home from a night shift...it's 0750 my time.....off to bed I go.
Chat with you all soon

Mary Anne,
The same thing happened to me when I was using IE. When I switched to Firefox the problem corrected itself.
It is frustrating to say the least!
Mary Anne,
Forgot to say that your sidebar is just where it's supposed to be when I view in in Firefox...
Hence the reason I am so very gratefull to Miss Moof that I do not have to deal with blogger anymore.. it is so very confusing!!!
It is a tad confusing: Your archive pages retain your original format and links -- which I didn't think worked that way.
But I know you'll get it worked out eventually -- and thanks for trying to link me. I have added you to me (he said, with full confidence, even though he's only doing it now and it's not yet done....)
hmmm. . . interesting. everything looks fine from what I can tell. Hang in there. I agree with Sue, I use Firefox and absolutely love it. BTW, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Mary Anne, I am viewing with firefox and your sidebar is where it should be. If you now have BETA did you chose the "Layout" option for your template? It is so easy to use. No chance of deleting anything. Its completely different in the fact that you don't work directly in the template any longer.
If there is something I can help you with just let me know..
Mary Anne, the blogger gremlins were acting up today. They did strange things to my blog when I tried to publish some pictures.
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Can you believe this weather? Folks here in Vancouver are still in shorts and flip/flips. I would imagine Qualicum is spectacular right now. I love it over there.
Cheers,
Josie
Hi Mary Anne,
You're ok on Firefox but with Internet Explorer, you're right, everything is pushed to the bottom.
This normally happens not with the Template but with your postings.
I presume you're using Blogspot.
If you go beyond the margins allocated, it automatically pushes sidebar content to the bottom.
I think in your case, the culprit is the title.
Try these 2 ways and see if the content gets lifted up again to its original position on Explorer.
For your title (in Settings),
take out the dots which can sometimes be dangerous when it comes to margins.
so let it read simply as, Life in Qualicum by Mary Anne RN and see if there's a change.
Then save, republish and see if there's a change on your blog (Explorer).
If not, try out a title like Life in Qualicum without your name and see if the content comes up.
At the moment, it's your title that'
s cutting into the space of the sidebar content.
Also a good tip to remember is that when you post entries, don't let it go beyond the top symbols like when
you see boxes featuring b, i, colours, don't let your content go beyond the bullet point format in the boxed sequence right on top from where you post and that's a good guide.
Try out your titles again and you may solve your problem.
Hi MaryAnne...I'm so sorry to hear of the problems you're having! I use the Mozilla Firefox browser and your blog looks perfect to me. When it comes to Blogger, I prefer Firefox, I have a lot less problems than I do with Internet Explorer. You just have to be so very careful when it comes to adding or deleting anything in your HTML...I always preview first before I save any changes to my template. I can imagine how frustrated you were getting!!
Mary Anne, I accidentally deleted my blog yesterday, so I have a new one. Arrgghhh.
Hey Mary Anne...
Blogger has been doing the same thing to me also.
But I went ahead and saved the template changes and 'pubished' it.
Everything is ok...
Even in Internet Explorer.
You might give it a try again, ignore the fallen sidebar, and see what happens?
later...
Well, it looks like its OK where I'm looking at it from, in IE. That's happened to me in the past. I bet that when trying to put the calendar on, some of the margins or something got goofed up. I hate it when that happens!!
Mary Anne, where are you? I miss your posts..
Another avid FireFox user here.
I spent a whole week almost messing with my blog and issues I was having viewing it with IE. I made a couple posts about it.
Have you tried visiting Google Groups? They have forums on various publishing aspects and I have posted questions there many many times!
