This past weekend I had my niece, her son, dog and friend come for a visit. We had a really nice time.....this time of year the herring are running and I know in previous years I have shared photos of the herring boats and all the action that takes place along the coastline during this time. The eagles, seagulls, seals, and sea lions are abundant. A place that the sea lions like to return to every year is called Fanny Bay. The sea lions like to congregate on the log booms. This year was no different.....they were abundant and huge...some of these sea lions weigh over 2000 lbs. The tide was out when we went to go see them and they were only about 100 feet away....I wouldn't want to live in Fanny Bay this time of year as the barking sounds of all these seals is very loud!!

The wind was blowing and it was rather chilly at the waters edge, so back into our vehicles we got. The adventure was not over yet, I took them to a couple of our favourite spots, Rosewall Creek, and my favourite spot up on the logging roads. Seeing as we both were driving 4 wheel vehicles I decided it wouldn't be back roading if we didn't try to make some jumps....here is a little clip of my niece and her friend making the jump...this footage doesn't really do it justice. We had to drive up a almost vertical hill, then jump a crevice that was about 6 feet wide and 10 feet deep.....it was such a rush!!!!

Hi Mary Ann - it's been a while, and I'm sorry to hear about your hubby's surgery. Hope he's feeling much better now. Between the two of you...well, *sigh*
I'm feeling much better but still have to wear the brace for another few weeks and then I can ease off it. I actually cheat a bit now cuz after dinner I take it off and laze on the bed or on the sofa to watch TV. It gets SO tight and uncomfortable.
But the good thing is that I don't have any pain and I can walk and stand so much better. I'm so glad the surgery was worth all the pain and sickness - and time! lol
Love your photos and a friend and I are thinking of coming over in the summer. We'll have to meet up.
WOW! Two emergency surgeries on your hubby in a matter of days? Holy Rip! What happened to cause that?
As always, loved seeing your pictures though. Your area always looks so beautiful -serene!
I'm so sorry about your husband's surgery and hope he is recovering well. I know it must have been exhausting for you.
Your photographs are great. I'm glad you've been able to have some outdoor adventures although the one with the jumps seems harrowing.
My best wishes to your husband for a very speedy recovery
I love your photos - I adore sea lions, I saw them in San Francisco for the 1st and only time up close and I fell in love
Hope you get some richly deserved rest
and thank you for your kind and insightful comment about the baby shower - it helps so much
Mary Anne, what the heck happened to hubby's arm? Anyway, I wish him speedy recovery but I suspect with you to take care of him, it will be so...ciao
Nice to see you back honey! :)
