Well the Birthday came and went....whew....made it through another one. LOL......It was lovely actually. My girls arrived on the early ferry they were exhausted, got them home, had breakfast with them....they napped and I took my hubby to work and then did errands. Arrived back home and the girls and I just chilled.....played a rousing game of volleyball, and picked blackberries. My sister and bro didn't arrive until 9:00 pm so we had a very late dinner. OH but it was worth the wait....bar-b-qued stuffed salmon, stuff mushroom caps, roasted peppers, roasted greek potatoes, cheese bread and raspberry mousse for dessert.....yummmy!!! As I was the Birthday girl I didn't have to do dishes....Yeah....there has to be some benefits to a birthday.
Next day we got up and at it early.....off for a trail hike(aka power walk through some wooded trails), and then seaside for pics and relaxation. Later in the day took the girls for a real hike up to some falls and then past them through the shrubs and beyond to another set of falls....very isolated and tranquil. Little bit of whining re the scratches and cuts from the branches....my girls are so very city. They are athletic and workout regularly but they just don't seem to get the concept that I live in the country and the Doulce and Cabana don't really need to come on the hike with us nor does Channel or Bebe and the likes.
Anyhow, I had to take them to the ferry this afternoon and rush back home get changed and off to work for nights tonight. When I got home there was a message from work wondering if I was still coming in....."of course...why" when I returned their call....oh just a lot of sick calls was the response. Well I get here...and guess what....I am the only one here....but then there is only one patient....that is just unheard of.....what? Did they close the emergency doors? Nope was the answer, guess people just aren't getting sick ,and alot of the surgeons are on holidays so no big surgeries are happening and with all the nice weather folks are just staying away.....sounds good to me. Well the night is young and you never know what could happen.
I have been reading some great blogs lately....wow people are so creative and have been blessed with the gift of creative writing. I read a blog by OncRN she was regaling us with her observation of an oncology doctor she works with....oh it was priceless.....if you get the chance check out her blog..... So I started thinking to myself, What makes a good blog? I know what I like, but what draws people to blogs and what keeps them going back to certain blogs....is it the content of the blog?....is it the writing? Is it the blog itself and it's layout? Are people looking for controversy? What about specific topics...like Alzheimer's or Diabetes? I really would love to know what it is that draws people to blogs and blogging. Anyhow, enough about that....my thought process seems a little disjointed this evening and the gray mater is just not up to snuff, so I should leave it at that.....cheers all....and happy blogging....

Thanks for your visit and your kind words. I enjoyed reading about your birthday weekend. (Happy belated birthday--I'm good at sending those!) Sounds like you live in a wonderful area full of Mother Earth at your footsteps. How nice. How funny about your daughters--can take the girls out of the city but . . . ha. Too cute. I'm sure they looked very nice though, ready for any good-looking hiker (if they're single), wink wink. Good for you for having a slow day at work. I'm sure they are few and far between. Perhaps it was a present from above. Looking forward to catching up on your past posts.
Mary Anne, I'm very happy for you having such a nice birthday and family visits. The hikes sound wonderful. With my bad knees, I haven't been on a walk longer than walking around my yard in a very long time.
What makes an interesting and "popular" blog? Don't know, but what I do know is that people like to read uplifting, interesting posts about interesting situations. Doesn't have to be a long post and it doesn't have to be filled with a million pictures (although some bloggers just post picture after picture to enhance their posts). If you are genuine, I think you building up a lineup of bloggers that will come back time after time and others will follow. The key is to just be yourself.
Mary Anne. I wondered how your birthday had went. It sounds like everyone had a great time. That meal made my mouth water. Any leftovers?
I really have no idea about what makes a good blog. Like MK says I guess just being yourself. When I started mine it was intended to only be abour arthritis. Geez, I could not do post everyday only about arthritis. I changed it to more of a personal blog and I just write about whatever enters my mind or is bothering me on any given day. I think you just have to relax into yoru blog and understand that not everyone will be interested in what you write. I can't change what I write to please other peole so I just do it how I want and hope someone may find it interesting.
I have met wonderful people through my blog. I'm so happy I stuck with it. Your also right about OncRN. She is wonderful. Her words just take my breathe away sometimes. As does kt and dream mom, as well as many others.
Here, I do not actually consider this will have success.
